Writing

If you're reading this, then you have just
experienced the power of... writing!

A woman performs charades joyfully for a small group in a cozy indoor setting.

Can you guess what she is trying to say?

Some say that actions speak louder than words. Well, to those narrow-minded people, we would assert that speaking is an action and an important one at that.

Can you imagine having to gesticulate everything that you want to say?

Words, both in written and spoken form, not only enrich the world from an artistic standpoint, but they provide an efficient means of communication.

Now that we have clarified that, we have another question: "How would you like to enrich the world?"

The Process

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3, then... 4!

Below, is our process for most writing and editing projects that we engage in; however, many of our services overlap (e.g., marketing, publishing, etc.), which can change the process. In such cases, we would clearly outline what would take place in the initial consultation.

01

Consultation

Every unique creation begins with a great idea.

Whether the initial meeting takes place via telephone or e-mail, it's pretty straightforward; during this stage, we will discuss the necessary elements of your project.

Prior to the meeting, you will be sent a link to a form that asks all of the right questions so that we make the best use of our time.

02

Brainstorm

This is when a project comes to life.

Once we have sorted out the details, then the project will formally begin.

The production time for the initial draft will vary based on the project; however, this will be agreed upon during the initial meeting.

03

Review

Grab your magnifying glass, it's time to take a look.

The review process can vary based on the type of project that is being written and is usually carried out many times throughout a long project, such as a memoir.

During the sessions, we may have you confirm names, dates, and other facts. It's also your opportunity to request the inclusion of details that may have not been mentioned previously.

04

Delivery

What you've been waiting for has finally arrived.

There is nothing worse than finding that four months past the deadline your project isn't near completion.

We strive to have projects completed within the projected time frame, which is definitely achievable if you are quick to respond during the process.

Our Evaluation

There are many factors that we consider when electing to write a particular piece. The first is quite simple: we are most interested in it being interesting and meaningful. After that, we evaluate the elements that have been outlined below. It is important to note that not all of the elements may be applicable to your project.

Subject

 Pick a subject, any subject!

Let's start with the obvious — the subject!

We enjoy exploring new subject matters, which most certainly has served as the impetus for writing pieces that range from graphic design to environmental conservation.

With a few exceptions, there is no subject that we will not delve into.

Research

You must make yourself an expert on the subject.

It is just plain silly to write any piece when the author does not thoroughly understand the subject matter.

Luckily, we love research.

Whether the writing requires the distillation of a complex set of ideas, or it highlights the nuances of a product line, we strive to ensure that the content is accurate, and includes citations, if necessary.

Audience

Know your audience.

The most important factor to consider when crafting an article is the target audience. It should come as no surprise that readers are more likely to engage in content when it matches their overall demeanor.

Reading level, culture, and tone (e.g., friendly, authoritative, humorous, etc.) are a few of the factors to consider.

Medium

How will people receive the writing?

How the writing will be delivered informs much of the process.

Will the words be spoken, or will they appear in print?

Will they be accompanied by visuals, or will they have to inform the reader with text alone?

Time Limit

How long can this go on for?

Time limits apply to speeches.

Most people have seen that awkward moment when the music begins to play, even though the actor is only halfway through her/his speech.

This type of writing requires knowledge of the individual's natural speaking pace, pauses, accompanying demonstrations, etc.

Number of Words

Use your words.

It is important that a client has a reasonable number of words in mind, as it is a critical factor when writing any piece.

How you deliver information is highly dependent on how many words it has to be carried out in.

A product's label would certainly have to be more succinct than the same product's description on a website.

SEO

Don't forget the robots.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a term that is used to describe a strategy that websites use to improve or maintain their ranking with the search engines.

The key to SEO-friendly writing is to create content that is both appealing to humans and robots.

Turnaround Time

Go from Point A to Point B.

While we can certainly accommodate quick turnaround times, we prefer projects that are carried out within a healthy time frame.

This isn't where the page ends!

Below, we have included a truncated list of other writing types and mediums that we engage in.
